IATEFL proposal

Posted on Updated on

I have decided I don’t only want to attend the next IATEFL conference in Glasgow, I want to present a paper there.

Having thought carefully about what topic is the most prominent in my work at the moment, I decided it had to be something related to CPE preparation. Within that, my Book-a-month project is by and large my favorite. Hence, this is my IATEFL 2012 proposal. I hope they’ll like it!

Title

Proficiency a (few) books away

Abstract

Having been an exams preparation teacher in Sao Paulo for 6 years, introducing literature into my CPE courses has so far been the most effective (and fun) element in the whole syllabus. In this talk, I’ll discuss how to explore books in the CPE classroom, which books (not just classics) and the difference it has made in candidates’ performance in all papers.

Does it sound like something you’d be interested in attending?

Sure! I’d be interested in attending it.
Although it is really hard doing all the books exercises, mocks, watching programmes you recommend and find some spare time to read literature books, I agree with Agnes – it helps our development in the course.

I can be your case study! Just got 90% on a CPE reading mock. Your fault, of course… =)

    Hi Higor

Interesting topic and a truly necessary one. Hopefully there will be people sitting all over the place and many others standing in the back of the room for your lecture. I am sure going to be there, unless I am speaking at the same time. It’s going to be a real success.

    Best,

    Fernando Morais

    Hi Higor!

I’m one of the Celta trainees at IH who observed your CPE lesson yesterday (btw, thanks for having us!). It was great, I’m definitely taking the course next semester!

I was specially interested in the reading you require for the course, so sure, I think that is a great topic of discussion!

    Good luck with your proposal!

      Best wishes,
      Higor.
